Everblades Beca Named ECHL Player of the Week

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades proudly announced today that the ECHL has named Everblades forward Matt Beca the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for the week of February 14-20.
The weekly award is the second for Beca this season having also been named the Player of the Week for the week of December 20-26. This past week Beca finished the week with six points (2g- 4a) and was a plus-4 rating in two games as the Everblades improved their record in the South Division to 30-24-3 for 63 points.
The 24-year-old opened the week with three points, scoring the game-winning goal and adding two assists in Florida's 5-2 win over Gwinnett on Friday night at Germain Arena. Beca then added another goal and two assists in the Everblades' 7-3 victory over the Gladiators on Saturday night at Germain Arena. Overall he has 39 points (14g, 25a) in 47 games this season.
The native of Mississauga, Ontario is under contract with Charlotte of the AHL and made his pro debut at the end of last season playing for the Springfield Falcons of the AHL where he scored one goal in five games. Beca attended Clarkson University where he played four seasons registering 123 points (51g- 72a) in 149 games.
Beca's most recent weekly award is the third for the Everblades this season, joining Francis Lemieux who was the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week from November 29 - December 5.

The Everblades return to action on Saturday, February 26 when they travel to South Carolina to take on the Stingrays at 7:05 p.m. from the North Charleston Coliseum. The Everblades' next home game is Friday, March 4 when they host the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:30 p.m. from Germain Arena.
