Evansville Otters Re-Sign Outfielder Runey Davis, Pitcher David Kubiak

(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters re-signed pitcher David Kubiak today.
The New York native arrived in Evansville last July and became a reliable reliever in the Otters bullpen. Kubiak pitched in 19 games, recording a pair of saves and maintaining a 3.90 earned run average.
"David threw very well for us last year, giving us depth in the bullpen," said Otters manager Andy McCauley . "We will be looking at him as a potential starting pitcher this year."
Kubiak began his professional career as a 36th round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Rays in 2011. He recorded more than a strikeout per inning that season while pitching in the Appalachian and Gulf Coast Leagues.
Kubiak has not started at the professional level, but he did start in 47 of the 51 games he pitched collegiately at SUNY-Albany . He is very eager for this opportunity.
"I'm excited to get the chance to start again," said Kubiak. "I'm really excited for the start of the season and I am ready to get started."
The Otters will be having an exhibition game that benefits Jacob's Village on Friday, May 10 against the Southern Illinois Miners . First pitch will be at 6:35 p.m. CDT at historic Bosse Field . Tickets are $4 for general admission or $6 for reserve seats. All ticket proceeds will go to local charity Jacob's Village. The Evansville Otters season starts on Friday, May 17 against the Normal CornBelters . The year will feature 51 home games including seven scheduled doubleheaders.
