Evansville Thunderbolts News Release

EVANSVILLE, IN - Evansville scored first, but struggled to generate offense, falling to the Peoria Rivermen 5-1 earlier today. The 9:30 a.m. faceoff brought delight to more than a thousand tri-state school children who got to experience "hooky for hockey". Tanner Milliron started in net for the Thunderbolts. He was faced by Tyler Green for Peoria.

David Williams got his second goal of the season in the first period. He received a pass from Brent Clarke in the slot, stick handled forehand to backhand, and tucked the puck behind Green for the early lead. Kyllian Kirkwood also assisted on the goal garnering his first point as a Thunderbolt.

Evansville had opportunities to extend their lead drawing two power plays in the first period and two more in the second. However, the Thunderbolts' attack was abbreviated by their own penalties during the advantage. Of the two power plays, one ended after 23 seconds. The other was stopped just over half way through. A third advantage was negated by a coincidental penalty. Evansville's power play was 0 for 4. The penalty kill unit prevented Peoria from scoring on their three opportunities.

Peoria led 2 to 1 after the first period and outshot Evansville 13-4. Peoria tallied two more goals in the second and added the fifth and final goal in the third. Ryan Keller scored the game winning goal. Peoria got a goal and an assist from Keller, Dakota Klecha, and Geordie Wudrick. Luke Eibler added two assists. Evansville had 22 shots in the game.
