European Forwards Arrive in the Nickel City

The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to announce that Minnesota Wild prospect PAVEL JENYS and Russian forward IVAN KASHTANOV have both safely arrived in Sudbury and are ready to participate in the Sudbury Wolves training camp this week. The Wolves now must wait for final approval from the IIHF office on the transfer of their playing rights to the Sudbury Wolves. Approval is expected in the days ahead.
JENYS, 18, was drafted from the Czech Republic with the 26th overall selection in the CHL Import draft in July. The 6'3", 200 lb forward is described as a physical player with a knack for scoring goals. The Minnesota Wild recently selected the Brno, Czech native in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
During the 2013-14 season, Jenys scored 13 goals in 26 games in the Czech U20 league. He also added 10 goals in 10 play-off games for the Kometa Brno U18 team. In international competition, Jenys scored four goals in 8 tournament games at the U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial and U19 tournaments. Jenys can play either wing position as well as centre. The Wolves are excited to select the skilled Czech forward with their 1st selection in the Import Draft.
KASHTANOV, 17, is 5'11", 200 lbs and served as captain of the Russian Red Army team of the MHL last season. Kashtanov also served as captain of the Russian U17 national team last season. The skilled forward can play the wing or centre and will add offensive creativity to the Wolves' line-up. Kashtanov has already been identified as a European prospect for the 2015 NHL draft by NHL's Central Scouting bureau.
"Jenys is a big, strong forward with natural goal-scoring ability" notes Wolves' GM Blaine Smith. "He is a hardworking forward that plays a physical style of hockey. Pavel has a very good grasp of the English language so communication will not be an issue for him."
"As captain of the Russian U17 team, Ivan brings some high-end skill and leadership qualities to our line-up" adds Smith. "Like most Russian players that come over to Canada, we will need to assist Ivan with the English language, however, he shows a good understanding of the language, and communication should not be an issue. We have met with both of these young men and we have been impressed with their character and willingness to help the Sudbury Wolves earn success this season."
