New York City Football Club is delighted to confirm that forward Santiago Rodríguez has been awarded Etihad's Player of the Month for September.

The talented Uruguyan has enjoyed a stellar 2022 campaign with the Boys in Blue, registering four goals and 13 assists in 31 MLS Regular Season outings. Those numbers have Rodríguez leading NYCFC in assists this season, and sixth overall in the league.

Moving into September Rodríguez was at the forefront of two of the Club's most impressive performances - during the Campeones Cup and the Hudson River Derby. Starting out midweek against Mexican side Atlas F.C., a 2-0 victory saw the Club claim the trophy for the first time in our history.

Barely days later Rodríguez and his teammates were back in the Bronx to take on Red Bulls at Yankee Stadium. The former Nacional man managed to make a major impact just seconds into the game - assisting Alex Callens' opener inside the first minute. Rodríguez wasn't done yet, however, and added his own name to the scoresheet in the 23rd minute.

Showing a striker's instinct to punish Red Bulls, his goal confirmed a 2-0 victory and a sweep against Red Bulls in league play for NYCFC. A man for the big occasion, his coach Nick Cushing deemed Santi's performance a 'masterclass' and it has clearly caught the eye of voters as he claims the award.

A worthy winner, the Club would like to congratulate Santi on this achievement.
