Erie Otters News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania - Erie Otters General Manager Dave Brown announced today that the team has acquired overage forward Troy Lajeunesse from the Sudbury Wolves in exchange for a fifth-round pick, and released overage goaltender Troy Timpano.
Lajeunesse, a 5'8", 170-pound forward, originally committed to the Sarnia Sting as a free agent in September of 2014, and was then traded to Sudbury prior to the start of the 2017-18 OHL season. The Dokis First Nation, Ontario native has recorded seven goals and 25 points in 33 games played during the current campaign. In his career, the 20-year-old has amassed 51 goals and 81 assists for 132 points in 224 games.
In the exchange, the Erie Otters sent their fifth-round choice in the 2020 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection to the Sudbury Wolves.
To reduce their roster to the league limit of three overage players, Dave Brown also announced that the team has released goaltender Troy Timpano. The 20-year-old netminder has been out of the lineup since December 11th, 2017 and is recovering from an undisclosed injury. A native of Pickering, Ontario, Timpano backstopped the Otters to the team's second OHL championship and a berth into the 2017 Memorial Cup Final. He also set the Otters record for winning streak with 13 straight victories to start the 2016-17 season.
"Troy Timpano came to Erie last year and made an immediate impact," General Manager Dave Brown commented, "he filled a hole we had and worked voraciously to give the team an opportunity to win. We thank him for all he's done with our organization and wish him the best in his future. Troy Lajeunnesse gives us a veteran forward with a high compete level that fits the mold of our team. His work ethic and drive will be an asset to our young room."
