KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. - Eric Grabe delivered two hits, including an RBI single in the ninth, as the Fayetteville SwampDogs fell to the Outer Banks Daredevils, 11-4, on Tuesday night at the First Flight Baseball Complex.

Fayetteville (26-16, 9-5) led 3-0 after just one inning, behind a two-run homerun to left from designated hitter Joe Vaskas. But the SwampDogs did not score again until Grabe's hit in the ninth inning, despite tallying eight hits through the first three innings against Daredevils starter Joe Candelmo.

Grabe raised his CPL career hit total to 162, one hit ahead of Konstantine Diamaduros of Forest City in race for the top spot all-time. Forest City did not play Tuesday night.

Dom Macaluso (4-3) pitched well through five innings but ran into trouble in the sixth. He allowed four hits and a walk before being lifted, finishing his outing having surrendered nine hits and five runs - three earned - in just 5.1 innings.

The SwampDogs bullpen did not fare much better in the only meeting of the season between the two teams, allowing another six runs through the final three innings. The Daredevils' Mike Torrence (1-0), meanwhile, threw four scoreless innings to earn the victory, keeping Fayetteville from mounting any sort of rally.

The star offensively for Outer Banks (18-23, 7-8) was Donnie Corsner, who went 3-for-4 with a double, homerun, three runs, three RBI's and a walk. He also threw out Eric Grabe at the plate in the third inning to keep the SwampDogs from adding to their lead.

Vaskas also had a double for Fayetteville, while Brian Yeung went 3-for-4 with three singles in just his third start of the year at third base. Zach Briggs also has an RBI double, and John Hogan was 2-for-4 with a run scored in a losing effort.

The SwampDogs finished their two-game road trip tomorrow night taking on the Petersburg Generals in Virginia. They'll return home to host the Florence RedWolves on Thursday, with gates opening at 6 p.m. and first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
