Energy FC Play MLS's FC Dallas Tomorrow Night
June 11, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
OKC Energy FC News Release
Energy FC's busy schedule continues with a trip to Dallas to take on MLS's FC Dallas Wednesday at SMU's Westcott Field. The Greens, with a short bench due to injuries and national team call-ups, will play two matches in the same week for the third straight week. It will also be the eighth match in the last 29 days for OKC. Still, the team has only lost once in the last 11 outings.
OKC advanced to the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup by defeating NTX Rayados, 3-1, in the second round and the Tampa Bay Rowdies, 4-3, in the third round. MLS teams do not enter the competition until the fourth round, so this will be FCD's first match. The clubs have met twice in the USOC, with FC Dallas winning on both occasions. The Greens fell 4-1 in 2015 and lost out in penalties in 2016. Dallas then went on to win the tournament that year.
Energy FC are coming off a 1-1 draw with Fresno FC, their third consecutive draw, to remain unbeaten in their last seven matches in all competitions. Deshorn Brown scored his eighth league goal of the season in the 79th minute while Omar Gordon recorded his sixth assist to cancel out Jamal Johnson's strike in the 8th minute. OKC now sits in 6th place in the USL Championship's Western Conference.
FC Dallas, currently fifth in MLS's Western Conference, most recently played to a 2-2 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes. Francis Atuahene, who spent the first part of the 2018 season on loan with Energy FC, scored the tying goal on his MLS debut.
