Energy Fall on Last Second Shot to the Skyforce

Des Moines, Iowa - The Iowa Energy (16-14) fell 112-109 to the Sioux Falls Skyforce (18-12) Tuesday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Energy were led by Damien Wilkins with 26 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Kalin Lucas added 20 and Larry Owens added 15 points. The Skyforce were led by Shawn Jones with 29 points and 7 rebounds.

It was a close first quarter with 10 lead changes and seven ties. Larry Owens led the Energy with 8 points in the quarter while Larry Drew II had 5 points for the Skyforce. The Energy and Skyforce were tied at 22 heading into the second quarter.

It continued to be a close game for most of the second quarter, until the Skyforce pulled away in the final minutes of the half, opening up a nine-point lead. Shawn Jones came alive for the Skyforce, scoring 14 points in the quarter. Owens recorded 15 points for the Energy in the first half. Sioux Falls held a 58-52 lead at halftime.

The Energy fought back in the third quarter, outscoring the Skyforce 34-29 behind Lucas' 11 points. The Energy and Skyforce had exchanged the lead 20 times and were tied 13 times by the end of the quarter. Sioux Falls held a one-point lead over the Energy at the end of the third quarter, 87-86.

The tight game continued into the fourth, with eight more lead changes. It came down to a last second shot by Fuquan Edwin, who hit the game winning shot with :0.7 left to give the Skyforce a 112-109 lead. A last second shot by the Energy was no good as they fell 112-109.
