DES MOINES, IA, Nov. 30, 2011- The 2011 NBA D-League Champion Iowa Energy fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers Wednesday 108-134 in a rematch of last year's championship series.

The Energy fell behind early, as a barrage of 3-point shots from the Vipers put Iowa down 24-38 at the end of the 1st quarter. The visitors battled back, as a Brandon Ewing bucket with 1:49 left in the half put Iowa up 56-55. After the teams traded scores, Rio Grande Valley scored the final three points of the half to take a 61-58 lead into the locker room.

The two teams battled back and forth to start the 3rd quarter. A three point play by rookie guard Jake Anderson brought the Energy to within three points at 78-81, but it was all Vipers after that. The host club outscored Iowa 15-4 to close to the quarter to take a 96-82 lead.

The Energy never got back in the game, as the Vipers coasted to the easy win.

Rookie center Jarrid Famous led Iowa with a 33 point, 15 rebound performance. Moses Ehambe and Nick Murphy each added 18 points for the Energy, who fall to 1-2 on the season.

The Vipers had seven players reach double figure scoring, and shot a scorching 18 of 38 from behind the 3-point arc in the game.

The two teams square off again tomorrow night at 7pm. The Energy will then return home from their four game road trip to host Erie on Saturday in the home opener. Saturday's game will also include the championship banner unveiling and a ring ceremony. Team AcroDunk, a trampoline dunk team, will perform at halftime.
