Eugene Emeralds News Release

EUGENE, OR - With Opening Day 13 days away, the Eugene Emeralds are excited to announce the second annual Ems Fest on Wednesday, June 15 at PK Park. This open house event will be held from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. and is free to the public. Fans should be sure to come out to get their first glimpse of the 2016 Eugene Emeralds!

This fun-filled event will give fans exclusive access to PK Park, and give them the unique opportunity to meet the newest Ems coaches and players. Fans young and old will be able to play catch on the field just like the pros! Kids will have the opportunity to test out the Ems newest inflatables in the Kid's Fun Zone and visit with Sluggo.

During Ems Fest, fans will have the chance to collect autographs from the future Cubs stars before they start the season. They can also ask them some questions during the Q and A sessions the coaches and players will take part in throughout the night. The Emeralds will also have some of their newest and greatest ballpark treats available for sale, including some of the new deep fried foods!

"We love hosting Ems Fest because not only does it give our fans a chance to meet the players, it gives our players a great introduction to Eugene and all we have to offer," said Allan Benavides, General Manager for the Emeralds. "We also have something really big planned for the end of Ems Fest, so we really hope fans stay until the end!"

After the grand finale fans 21 and older are welcome to join the Emeralds staff to celebrate the start of the season at The Cooler. The Cooler, located at 20 Centennial Loop, features 13 taps with some of the Northwest's best craft beers, a full bar and a wonderful selection of burgers, sandwiches, salads and appetizers sure to feed the whole team!

This is the second year the Emeralds have hosted Ems Fest before the season, and the night's events are free to the public. The Emeralds will open the season at home on June 17th when they face off against the Boise Hawks at 7:05 p.m. Individual game day tickets are available now at the Emeralds Box Office, online at emeraldsbaseball.com and by phone (541) 342-5367.

The Eugene Emeralds are the short-season Class A team of the Chicago Cubs. In 2015, six of the top 30 Cubs prospects spent time in Eugene including Ian Happ, Donnie Dewees and Eloy Jimenez. With 61 years, the Emeralds are the longest tenured and only founding member remaining in the Northwest League.
