Elmira's Rally Falls Short
The Elmira Pioneers dropped a tough contest to the Glens Falls Golden Eagles on Tuesday night 5-4. The top two teams record wise in the PGCBL met for the second time this season and would use a four run third inning to sink Elmira. Josh Anderson (Yavapai) gave the Golden Eagles a 4-0 lead by belting a three run shot over the left field fence for his third home run of the season. Corey Keller (Florida Atlantic) would get Elmira onto the scoreboard in the fourth inning driving in Justin Lacy (Longwood) who walked to leadoff the inning. Justin Lamborn (Westchester) would make it a 4-2 game as he would walk with the bases loaded.
David Olsen (Tacoma C.C.) would provide the extra insurance needed for the Golden Eagles in the eighth inning with an RBI single to make it 5-3. Elmira's rally in the bottom of the ninth would not be enough as Kyle Ruchim (Northwestern) would strike out Aaron Hopper (Marietta) to pick up his third save of the season. Brennan Perry (S. Maine) picked up his second win of the season while Mike Kazley (Cornell) drops to 0-2 on the season.
