Jordan Carter (St. Joe's) turned an impressive start hurling a complete game, shutout of the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawg. Carter pitched the first complete game of the 2011 season for Elmira striking out six batters and walking one over nine innings while scattering five hits.
Pioneers took the lead in the first inning when BJ Willis (Southern Indiana) singled, Ryan Normoyle (Washington) walked and Justin Lacy (Longwood) laced a single to left to drive Willis home.
The Pioneers would add to their lead in the fourth inning when Pat Hyde (Northern Kentucky) singled, Justin Lamborn (West Chester) doubled and Willis lined a double to the gap in right center field plating both runners. Elmira would tack on another run in the sixth when Willis doubled and David Bishop (Mississippi State) lined a single to bring the run in. The Pioneers would get their last runs the night playing a little same ball. Logan Uxa (Arkansas State) reached on an error by the shortstop moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Sal Pezzino (High Point) and scored on a sacrifice fly by Lamborn.
The Pioneers continue to their homestand taking on Glens Falls Golden Eagles in a two game series on Tuesday and Wednesday.
