Danville Dashers News Release
The Elmira Enforcers got back into their winning ways as they beat the Danville Dashers on the road by a score of four to zero. It was a tough night for the Dashers as they never seemed to find their footing in the game on either the offensive or the defensive side of the ice. In a game where Elmira controlled much of the momentum (and all of the scoring) there was plenty of passion shared between the two teams.
After a lot of back and forth between the two teams, with sloppy play on both sides, it was Elmira that found a foothold first, scoring with 13 minutes off the clock in the first period behind a goal from Brendan Hussey. Dmytro Babenko and Marko Novosel assisted on the goal, and it was all Elmira after that.
Three Elmira goals came in the second period as Glen Patterson was the second scorer of the evening after he found the back of the net on assists from Tyler Prendergast and Stepan Timofeyev. The second goal of the second came when Kyle Stevens found the back of the net for the first time on the night after some tic-tac passing found him open on goalkeeper Matt Kaludis' stick side. Dmytro Babenjo and Cameron Yarwood had assists on Stevens' first goal, which came short-handed.
It was Stevens that found the back of the net against as Ahmed Mahfouz and Stepan Timofeyev linked up with some pretty passing on even strength to put Elmira up four to zero.
The real intrigue on the night in what became a lopsided game came as three Elmira team members were ejected from the game.
Brandon Vuic was sent to the penalty box for Elbowing Fred Hein. The two engaged in a fight, with Vuic receiving a massive fifty minutes of penalty time after also receiving penalties for "Verbal Abuse of an Official" and "Physical Abuse of an Official."
Shortly after, Stepan Timofeyev was sent to the penalty box for two minutes for roughing before Head Coach Brent Clarke protested the call and received a game misconduct. Clarke spun and skated toward the official and was promptly escorted off the ice. In the third period, Elmira assistant captain (and former Dashers-star) Ahmed Mahfouz was also ejected after being the third man into an altercation, which earned him a ten-minute game misconduct.
In a night that had a massive one hundred and thirty-four penalty minutes between the two teams, Elmira came out with a convincing victory on the road, and thus had all three stars. Kyle Stevens, Dmytro Babenko, and Stepan Timofeyev earned the first, second and third stars, respectively. Elmira goaltender Troy Passingham had a stellar game, earning his first shutout of the season and stopping all 29 shots on his net.
