Elmira Jackals News Release


As a community owned team, staying active in the community is extremely important to all of us at the Jackals. During July, our staff was able to participate in many unique events and to meet many of you, our terrific fans. We hope you enjoyed seeing us around in July, and we look forward to continuing to interact with you in the coming months!

Blade's Book Buddies

Throughout July, Blade visited local libraries for the Blade's Book Buddies program. Blade joined librarians at Southeast Steuben County Library and Chemung County Library to help encourage reading. He got a chance to meet lots of kids and give out hugs and high fives. Blade thinks reading is cool, and he loved learning about his fans' favorite books!

Elmira Corning Regional Airport

On July 6, Blade went with Mike Strobel to visit Elmira Corning Regional Airport. Blade had a great time celebrating all of the airport employees and everything they do for the community! He also got a chance to meets lots of his fans. Blade enjoyed learning all about how airports work to make sure that everything runs smoothly!

Bath/Hammondsport Relay for Life

On July 17, Blade headed over to the Bath/Hammondsport Relay for Life event. He encouraged the participants and even ran a little bit himself! Supporting Relay for Life and their mission to help fight cancer is important to the Jackals, and we're thrilled that Blade was able to participate in this event.

Street Painting Festival

On July 18 and 19, the Jackals participated in the Elmira Street Painting Festival. Blade was there hanging out with his fans, and enjoying the warm weather. He particularly liked getting the chance to walk around with members of the Jackals staff and looking at the amazing artwork! Blade's favorite piece of artwork was a picture of him created by Jackals employee Jessica Rhodes.

Corvette Club Car Show

After attending the Street Painting Festival on July 18, Blade headed over to Montour Falls for the Corvette Club Car Show. He got a chance to meet lots of new fans and to introduce new people to the Jackals. Blade also got a chance to check out some cool Corvettes! This event raised money for local charities, and included music, raffles, and great food.

Corning YMCA

On July 28, Jackals staff members joined the Corning YMCA for their Kids Day. Staff members from the Jackals spoke to the children about working for the Jackals and how they got to where they are. Our staff members also answered questions and interacted with the kids.
