Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs News Release

Colonie, New York- The Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs lost the first game of their three-game series against the Elmira Pioneers by a final score of 6-2 tonight at Heritage Park.

Elmira starting pitcher Greg Keagle was the story of the game, as the former major leaguer took a no hitter into the 7th inning. His bid for his second career Northern League no-no was foiled when Dan Singletary singled into right field in the bottom half of the 7th.

Offensively, Brian Jones who hit two solo home runs in the win led the Pioneers. Former Diamond Dog Brandon Pernell also hit a home-run, a two-run shot in the game. Albany-Colonie starting pitcher Jason Von Haefen took the loss, his fifth of the year.

The two teams play the second of the three game series tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. The Dogs will Start former Pioneer Eric Estes, while the Pioneers counter with left-hander Justin Stine.
