Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs News Release

Colonie, New York- The Allentown Ambassadors defeated the Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs tonight at Heritage Park by a final score of 7-4. Allentown scored six runs in the top of the 2nd, and would lead from start to finish. The Diamond Dogs would make it close, but Allentown would hold on for the win.

Albany-Colonie starting pitcher Bryan Morse had to be removed from the game in the top of the 2nd, when it was ruled that pitching coach Eric LeBlanc made two visits to the mound during the same trip out there. LeBlanc appeared to stride about 15 feet away from Morse before returning to the mound to say something to Morse. Allentown manager Ed Ott saw this, and immediately claimed that should be a second visit to the mound in the inning, and therefore, Morse would have to be removed from the game. After Morse was taken out, Chris Begg came in, with limited warm-up work and allowed the six runs.

Allentown was led by Stephen Larkin, who was 3-4 with a pair of runs driven in. Matt Johnson chipped in with a pair of hits, two runs, and two RBI's. Gerald Butt who was 1-2, with a run scored and a run driven in led the Dogs, who only managed three hits in the game.

Allentown starting pitcher Chris Zallie pitched a complete game, three-hitter en route to his second win of the year. The series concludes tomorrow with a 2:05 p.m. game at Heritage Park. It is the final regular season home game for the Diamond Dogs.
