Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs News Release
Colonie, New York- The Diamond Dogs lost their season finale against the Berkshire Black Bears 6-4 tonight at Heritage Park. With the win, Berkshire salvages one of the three games and improves their record to 9-25 in the second half of the season. The loss sends the Dogs to 22-14, and with Adirondack's win over Brockton, the Dogs lead in the North Division is cut to just a game-and-a-half.
Berkshire took control of the game in the top of the 6th inning, when they scored three runs to take a 4-2 lead. The Black Bears' tacked on two more in the eighth making the score 6-3. Albany-Colonie's Dan Singletary came off the bench to hit a home run in the bottom of the ninth, making the score 6-4, but that's how it would end.
The Black Bears were led by former UAlbany standout Mike Oliva, who went 2-4, with a run scored and another driven in. Josh Perich chipped in with 2RBI's for Berkshire. For the Dogs, Ryan Smith and Carlos Sepulveda had three hits in a losing effort. Albany-Colonie pounded out 14 hits, but it would not be enough as Berkshire held on for the 6-4 win.
The Diamond Dogs have an off day tomorrow before beginning a three game series against Allentown Friday night at Heritage Park. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
