July 15, 2012 - West Coast League (WCL)
Bend Elks News Release

The Elks looked to be on pace for their first win against Corvallis in 2012 after Will Sparks delivered a 2 run double in the top of the 1st, but that was all the offense the Elks would muster, falling to the Knights 4-2 on Sunday.

JR Bunda got the start for the Elks, but was also tagged with the loss. Bunda pitched 5 and 2/3 innings, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits, walking 3 and striking out 4 Knights.

Will Sparks went 1-4 in the game with his 2 run double, Darian Ramage went 1-3 with a walk and a run, and Joey Mathews, playing on his collegiate home field on the campus of Oregon State University, went 2-3.

The Elks and Knights will be back in action Monday, first pitch at 6:35 from Vince Genna Stadium.

Jake Azevedo, called up from the Elks split squad, delivered a pinch hit single in the top of the 9th for the Elks, who fall to 16-16 overall.
