Elks fall to Bells on Saturday 9-6
July 15, 2012 - West Coast League (WCL)
Bend Elks News Release
The Bend Elks just couldn't come up with enough runs to defeat the Bellingham Bells on Saturday, falling to the Bells 9-6.
Both teams brought the bats to the game Saturday as the Elks had 11 hits in the game, 40 hits in the series, but it was the pitching that let the Elks down as the Bells avoided the 3 game sweep. Zane Yanzick delivered a 3 run home run over the left field wall in a pinch hit role, the big highlight in the game for the Elks.
On the mound, Travis Radke got the start and took the loss for Bend, despite pitching well. Radke gave up 2 runs on 5 hits, walking one and striking out a batter.
The Elks will take on the Corvallis Knights starting Sunday and will play Corvallis 5 times in 5 days, two of those happening in Bend on Monday and Tuesday, first pitch at 6:35 p.m. in Bend.
