
Designated Hitter "Grant's" victory wish, Elks beat Falcons 1-0

The Bend Elks and the Kelowna Falcons were tied at 0 heading to the bottom of the 8th inning Monday evening, when Grant Newton's solo Home run over the right field wall broke the tie and sent the Elks home with a 1-0 victory.
Daniel Chavez pitched 6 and 1/3 scoreless and received a no-decision. Derek Peterson's perfect 1.2 innings in relief earned him the win, and Jordan Spencer pitched a scoreless 9th in earning the save.
Cord Cockerill was charged with the loss for the Falcons, despite quality pitching himself. He allowed just 1 run, the solo home run, on 6 hits through 8 innings.
Offensively, Bo Walter went 2-3, while Parker Guinn, Shawn O'Brien, and Jordan Copeland added the other Elks for the Elks in the game, who snapped a 4 game losing streak in the process.
The Elks return to action Tuesday for a special $2 Tuesday with Fireworks in the Ballpark night, sponsored by Bend Memorial Clinic. Fireworks will immediately follow the game, 6:35 first pitch.
