Elks Fall to Corvallis 4-3

For the second night in a row,the Bend Elks lose to the Knights by one run, tonight 4-3.

Both teams were held scoreless into the 5th when the Elks took the lead by putting 3 runs on the board after Justin Erlandson led the inning off with a single, followed by singles from Jon Brooks, Brock Carpenter and Nick Osuna, that along with a wild pitch from Knight starter Jason Snodgrass gave the Elks the lead. The Knights plated their first run in the bottom of the 5th off a solo home run given up by Elk starter Zack Carter. Corvallis tied things up in the bottom of the 6th, after a walk, a double and a 2 RBI single. The game was locked up at 3 until the bottom of the 8th when Louis Cohen took the mound and gave up a lead off double, then a stolen base followed by a sacrifice bunt allowing the go ahead run to reach 3rd, before giving up a RBI sacrifice hit to plate the final and winning run for the Knights. It was the second loss for Cohen this season.

The Elks are now 3 games behind the first place Knights in the South division with 4 more games still to be played against Corvallis before the end of the regular season. The Wenatchee Appplesox lost to the Victoria Harbour Cats Thursday evening, keeping the Elks in the top spot for the wild card position for the upcoming WCL playoffs by three games.
