
Elks Drop Game 2 to Kitsap 7-6

The Bend Elks dropped the second game of the three game series against the Kitsap Blue Jackets 7-6 at Genna Stadium Tuesday night. It was a tight affair all night long with the game being tied 3 times. The Jackets took the lead in the first with a solo home run, that was answered when Derek Chapman lead off the first with a walk followed by a stolen base, he eventually scored on a Patrick Flynn RBI single to even the score at 1. Bend took the lead in the bottom of the 2nd on a Jared Gonzales solo Home Run over the right field wall onto Wilson Ave. Kitsap put another run on the board in the 4th to tie the game at 2. Kitsap took the lead 4-2 in the 6th plating 2 more runs. Bend took the lead back 6-4 in the bottom of the 7th with 4 Elks runs crossing the plate.The Blue Jackets knocked 4 hits off Elks relief pitching in the 8th to push 2 more runs across to tie the score at 6. In the top of the 9th the Jackets lead off hitter walked followed by RBI double to put Kitsap ahead for good, 7-6. Bend's lead off hitter in the bottom of the 9th walked, then was thrown out trying to steal 2nd before the final 2 Elks batters struck out. Daniel Bies took the loss for Bend and Cody Allison received his first win for Kitsap.
The Elks have clinched the South Division title and are now waiting to see who they will face in the playoffs. The Elks will take Thursday off before facing the Klamath Falls Gems Friday through Sunday for the final regular season series of 2015.
The rubber match of the 3 game series is set for Free Kids Wednesday evening at Vince Genna Stadium, with the first pitch set for 6:35 PM. All the action can be followed at bendelks.com with Tris Reisfar calling the game on both the free video and audio streams, and in the ball park at 90.1 FM.
