"Eligible" athletes use their skills off the ice to shake up the dating scene at The Twisted Martini
November 29, 2005 - SPHL (SPHL)
Jacksonville Barracudas News Release
Downtown nightlife simply gets better and better . . . The Twisted Martini's CELEBRITY SPEED DATING EVENTS raise the bar once again by hosting The Jacksonville Barracudas Hockey Team. It's the players' turn to seek romance at the cutting edge venue. . . eight three-minute periods in 24 minutes. That's all it could take to change some lives without landing in the penalty box.
A relatively large portion of the Barracudas fan base is actually women; but few have been able to get valuable "game time" with their favorite players. The Twisted Martini relishes the responsibility for being instrumental in putting the two together.
WAPE's Tony Mann hosts Jacksonville's most beautiful women during "Ladies Night LIVE" and Twisted Speed Dating from 6 to 8 pm. Ladies will need to register early for the Wednesday Evening, November 30th Barracudas Speed Dating. The first session will kick off at 6:30 pm with the players participating in as many speed dating rounds as possible.
Three dollar martini specials for the ladies from 4 to 11 pm and even Level Vodka drink specials for the guys and their wingmen from 8 to 11 pm keep the crowd rocking to the tunes of local party bands and The Twisted Martini's own DJs spinning their patented Ultra Party "Twisted Dance" Mix.
It may seem like an unlikely pairing at first blush--the hockey club/martini club relationship . . . but the two have forged strong ties.
The Barracudas have long been sponsors and supporters of The Twisted Martini's Wednesday, "Guilty Pleasures" & "Ladies Night Live" events by donating club seats each week as door prizes, and the nightclub has included the hockey club in much of its radio and guerilla marketing campaigns.
The Twisted Martini has become the unofficial "after-game" party headquarters for the hockey club and many of its fans. The downtown nightclub will be hosting many "Meet & Greets" for the Barracudas and their fans throughout the season.
"Our mutual desire to expand our guest data base and potential demographics spurned the development of this unique partnership," says Ken Vezina, Director of Public Relations for the Barracudas.
"It really has been a good fit for The Twisted Martini as well," adds Steve Anderson, Marketing Director for the downtown nightclub. "A major premise of our âLadies Nights' is to give women what they want--and we decided providing our ladies the opportunity to date professional athletes is something âtwisted' we could assist with."
