Jacksonville Barracudas News Release

(Jacksonville, FL) The Jacksonville Barracudas finally out shot the opposition at home Tuesday night, but came up short in overtime against the Pee Dee Cyclones, losing 5-4.

The Barracudas outplayed the Cyclones through most of the game, out shooting them 54-38, but had trouble beating Cyclones' goaltender Mark Carins.

The teams traded the lead throughout the first and second periods. Forward Luke Pelham started the scoring for the Cudas early in the first period, with a goal assisted by Jonathan Charette just over two minutes into the game. The Cyclones tied it later in the period, and then forward Edan Welch put the team ahead with his first of two goals in the second.

The Barracudas stole the lead early in the third period with goals from Chad Peck and Erick Lajoie. The Cudas looked secure with the lead until the final minute to play, when Cyclones defenseman Jean Francois Picard let loose a thundering slap shot from the point that beat Cudas' goaltender Jan Chovan.

The teams traded chances in the overtime period, with the Cudas getting most of the shots. However a fluke goal by Cyclones star Shaun Aebig sealed the game away for the Cyclones.

The Barracudas will look to get back on the winning track Thursday night, December 1st, at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena against the Fayetteville FireAntz. Game time is at 7:05, and tickets are available through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or the Arena Box Office at 904-630-3900. Call the Barracudas' office at 904-367-1423 for game and group ticket information.
