Eleven Former and Current Bombers Selected in 2018 MLB Draft

Bryan/College Station, TX - The Brazos Valley Bombers had eleven players drafted in the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft held over the past three days. Former Bombers Michael Helman, Stephen Kolek, Shawn Dubin, Riley McCauley, Keegan Curtis, Chance Kirby, Darrien Williams, Chase Calabuig, and Miguel Ausua were all selected by professional ball clubs yesterday. This is in addition to current Bombers Cody Staab and Jake Norton who were also selected.

Helman and Kolek represent the earliest selections for the Bombers, both being selected in the 11th round of the draft by the Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Dodgers respectively. The eleven players, marks the highest total of any TCL club for 2018 and adds to the long list of Bombers players who have been drafted into the professional ranks.

Cody Staab served as the Center Fielder for the Bombers during the early part of the 2018 season after finishing his college season with Rice University. Staab was drafted in the 30th round (898 overall) by the Seattle Mariners. Jake Norton has yet to pitch for the Bombers thus far this season, he has however just finished a successful season with Stephen F. Austin University. Norton was selected in the 34th round (957 overall) by the Miami Marlins.
