Elander's Seventh Inning Homerun Sparks Braves' Win

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves won their eighth straight game Friday night after beating the Greenville Drive 11-4 in front of 2,485 fans at State Mutual Stadium.

Greenville took the lead early in the second inning after a bases loaded walk to Jordan Weems. Jose Colorado then grounded into a double play with the bases loaded to score the second run of the inning. The Drive added a run in the third and a run in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead.

Rome tied the game in the sixth inning when Levi Hyams was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score the first run. Joey Meneses later doubled over the head of the center fielder to score three runs making it a 4-4 score. The Braves took the lead in the seventh thanks to a two run homerun off the bat of Josh Elander. The Braves added five big insurance runs in the eighth inning for the 11-4 victory. Brandon Rohde (1-0) gets the win in relief for Rome while Greenville's Austin Maddox (0-4) is tagged with the loss.
