
Eighth Inning Walk-Off Walk Highlights Sunday Doubleheader

TROY, NY -- The Tri-City ValleyCats won the night-cap of their Sunday doubleheader 2-1 over the Staten Island Yankees, behind a walk-off walk in extra innings at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.
Luis Encarnacion earned the walk-off honors, drawing a five-pitch walk with the bases loaded to bring home Enmanuel Valdez from third base.
The run was not only Tri-City's second of the game, it was also their second of the day.
The ValleyCats lost the first game of their doubleheader by a score of 2-0, despite the pitching staff allowing a season-low two hits.
One of the hits was Jackson Thoreson's first career home run, which led off the third inning.
Alex House picked up the loss, despite giving up just one unearned run in the second on a throwing error by Enmanuel Valdez.
During the second game, Tim Hardy earned the win with for the ValleyCats by pitching two and a third perfect innings.
Now 23-18, the ValleyCats maintain a two-game lead over the Lowell Spinners and Connecticut Tigers for first place in the Stedler Division standings.
Tri-City will now travel to MCU Park in Brooklyn to throw off a three-game series with the Brooklyn Cyclones on Monday at 7 p.m.
