Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Today's Game- Batavia squares off against Vermont for the final game of a three-game stand against the Lake Monsters. The teams split the first two games of the series. Afterwards, the Muckdogs head to State College for a three game series against the Spikes.
That was last night- After seven walks in the second inning, Batavia was able to battle back from a 4-0 hole and capture a 6-5 win. Batavia tied it in the top of the eighth from a Brayan Hernandez single, and Michael Donadio drove in Sean Reynolds for his second RBI and the go-ahead run in the top of the 9th to snag the win.
Donadio digging in- Michael Donadio has now hits in 15 of his last 18 games. He's tallied 23 hits, two home runs and has crossed the plate nine times in that span. He is second on the team with four home runs. He left St. John's with the second most all-time hits with 268.
Reynolds Raking- Sean Reynolds has been able to find the power in his bat this season. He currently leads the league in home runs and is second in the league in RBI's and also leads the league in runs scored. He is also the league leader in walks with 26. Reynolds currently stands in fourth in the NYPL in extra-base hits
Jammed Up July- Batavia's offense has slowed up significantly in the month of July. They has a record of 11-14 in July, and have scored only 4.2 runs per game. That has taken a decline from the 5.2 runs per game that the Muckdogs were putting up in June.
Close Calls- Batavia has played a total of 41 games this season, 25 of which have been decided by two runs or less. The Muckdogs are 12-13 in those games. Batavia has the fourth best reord in one-run games, and the worst record in two-run games at 2-6.
Beginning from behind- The Muckdogs have had trouble with giving up early leads in ballgames. Batavia has trailed after the fifth inning on 21 different occasions so far this season, and have gone 5-16 in those contests.
Recent Roster Action- On July 26th, Luis Mojica was transferred to the GCL Marlins , and Tyler Kolek was promoted from the GCL Marlins
Marlins Update- The Marlins shut out the Nationals in a Sunday day game. Miami's pitchers combined for a two-hit shutout, and won the game 5-0. Jose Urena led the effort with six scoreless innings in his start only giving up one hit and striking out five.
