Yuma Scorpions News Release

RENO, Nev. -- Home runs by Jordan Prado, Henry Calderon and A.J. Valentine led to the first five runs in a 10-3 lopsided victory for the Yuma Scorpions over the Reno Silver Sox on Wednesday night.

Prado's and Calderon's long balls gave Yuma a 4-0 lead in the third inning.

Valentine's shot sparked a six-run outburst in the eighth inning, as the visitors pushed the lead to 10-2 on seven hits.

Pascual Matos drove in two on a double and was then plated following Hector Bernal's RBI double.

The veteran catcher was 4 for 5 with that double and RBI.

Calderon contributed a 3-for-5 evening, including a double and RBI in that eighth inning.

The 16 hits and 10 runs was more than enough for starting pitcher Roger Luque.

The veteran left-hander improved to 5-2 as he went eight innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, while striking out six.

Victor Hall had a team-high two hits for Reno. He scored one of the team's three runs.

Mike Done have the Silver Sox their first run of the evening with a home run to left field off of Luque.

The two teams finish up their three-game series at 7:05 p.m. tonight at Peccole Park.

Evan White (4-0, 2.95 ERA) will get the start for Yuma and Dustin Bergman (2-3, 3.24) will for Reno.
