Dickert Dominates

Reed Dickert took a no-hitter two outs into the 8th inning when Steve Boggs broke it up with a clean double, but the Flyers shut Chico out 5-0 to win the series at Nettleton Stadium.

Dickert twirled for 8.1 innings and struck out a Flyers record 15 hitters, while giving up just two hits. Nick Casanova finished off the shutout by stranding the bases loaded in the 9th inning.

The Flyers offense came in the form of two big swings of the bat. In the 4th inning, Scott Goodman drove his 7th homerun to put the Flyers up 2-0. The solo blast was the 4th homerun that Goodman has hit at Nettleton Stadium this season.

Peanut Williams tacked on a two-run homerun in the 8th inning to give the Flyers a 4-0 cushion. The Flyers also scored runs in the 1st and the 9th with the help of Chico errors. Goodman and Andrew Wong came through with the RBIs.

Todd Gossage was the only Chico player not to strikeout.

The Flyers won their first road series in a month and are now 4-5 in the second half. Chico drops to 3-5 after winning the first half.
