Eighth Inning Rally Helps Sharks Stun Navigators
June 9, 2016 - Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL)
Martha's Vineyard Sharks News Release
After trailing all game, the Martha's Vineyard Sharks pushed across six runs in the bottom of the eighth to earn an 8-4 win over the North Shore Navigators. The Sharks are now 4-2 on the young season while the Navigators drop to 0-5.
Although Jacob Rhinesmith hit his first home run of the season in the third inning, and then the Sharks took advantage of a Navigator error to score another run in the fifth, the Sharks still trailed 4-2 heading into the eighth inning. However, a two run home run by Alex Lewis tied the game just three batters into the inning. The Sharks added four more runs in the inning, thanks to six hits and two Navigators errors to take a commanding 8-4 win. Ryan Gaydou earned the win after he pitched a scoreless eighth inning and Mac Curran closed out the game with a perfect ninth inning.
The Sharks are back in action on Thursday night when they host the Sea Coast Mavericks at the Vineyard Baseball Park. First pitch is 7PM.
