March 30, 2004 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings of the United Hockey League announce that defenseman Guy Dupuis has been named the league's Sher-Wood Player of the Week for the period ending March 27th.
On the season, Dupuis has tallied 52 points, which is the most ever by any K-Wings defenseman since they joined the UHL.
Guy propelled the K-Wings offense by registering 8 points (3 goals, 5 assists) in four games last week. Dupuis, who is currently on an 8 game scoring streak, capped off the week with a five point night in the K-Wings 6-0 victory over the Adirondack IceHawks on Sunday. In the game, Dupuis achieved a first in his 14 year career by netting his first professional hat trick.
By receiving the honor, Dupuis becomes only the third K-Wings player in their UHL history to receive the Sher-Wood Player of the Week. Dupuis, who is the first defenseman in franchise history to win the award, joins Tim Turner and former K-Wing Jim Brown, as the only other players to take home the honor.
This is the fourth weekly award the K-Wings have brought home this season. Both Tim Turner and Chad Alban received weekly awards. Turner was the Player of the Week for the period ending March 7th, while Alban has won the Sher-Wood Goaltender of the Week twice this season.
For more information about Tim Turner being named the UHL Sher-Wood Player of the Week, please contact Mike Modugno, Director of Public Relations and Broadcaster at (269) 349-9772, extension 220.
