Eight BattleWings land on All-af2 list

Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings News Release


CHICAGO - The South Division Champion Tennessee Valley Vipers and Southwest Division Champion Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings each landed a league-best eight players on the All-af2 First and Second Teams, the league office announced today. Overall, players from 19 of the league's 25 teams were selected to either the American or National Conference All-af2 First and Second Teams as voted on by af2 head coaches and media.

WR JEREMY GRIER and JLB TRAVIS BLANCHARD were named to the First Team for Tennessee Valley, while QB KEVIN EAKIN, C LORENZO BRELAND, OL GERMAYLE FRANKLIN, DL ERIC SCOTT, MLB TYRELL ELSTON and DB DESMOND FOSTER were named to the Second Team. The Vipers finished their year 11-5 and were seeded No. 3 in the postseason, but were upset in the first round by No. 6 seed Green Bay. Bossier-Shreveport's eight honorees include FB JASON SCHULE, OL MOQUT RUFFINS and DB ROLAND COLA on the First Team and WR BUCHIE IBEH, DL JOE WOOLRIDGE, MLB MARVIN BYRDSONG, K ART CARMODY and ST P.J. BERRY on the Second Team.

The Tulsa Talons (Central Division Champions) had the second most overall selections with seven while the Green Bay Blizzard, Spokane Shock (West Division Champions) and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers (East Division Champions) had the largest number of First Team members with four each.

Oklahoma City WR/DB AL HUNT has been one of the league's most consistent all-around players since his career began in 2003. He has earned six All-af2 selections in seven seasons, the most of any current league athlete. He earned First Team accolades in 2004 and 2007 while earning All-af2 Second Team recognition in 2003 (Tulsa), 2005, 2006 and 2009. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton QB RYAN VENA earned his third straight All-af2 First Team honor and fourth First Team nod overall (2003). Vena leads a cast of four players who have earned three consecutive First Team accolades (FB JASON SCHULE, DL BEN MCCOMBS, K NICK GATTO).
