Charleston Lowgators News Release
CHARLESTON, S.C. (March 5) Charleston Lowgators small forward Chuck Eidson will be out of action for 6-8 weeks due to a fractured left wrist suffered in the Lowgators loss to Fayetteville last Saturday night. Eidson landed awkwardly on the wrist in the fourth quarter during a fast break and immediately left the game and did not return.
The Summerville native had surgery on Thursday and is expected to be out for a significant amount of time. He was averaging 7.4 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
"It is really too bad Chuck got hurt. He was playing so well and was giving us a tremendous lift off the bench," coach Doug Marty said. "We hope he heals quickly so he can continue right were he left off."
Eidson did not play in Charleston's loss at Asheville earlier this week on Tuesday and was waived today due to the injury. The Lowgators acquired small forward Wil Gibs to replace Eidson on the roster. A rookie from Brevard College, Gibbs is expected to suit up tonight against the Huntsville Flight at the Von Braun Center and will wear #3.
Gibbs is the second player Charleston has added to their roster this week. Small forward Rico Hill, a one-time second round selection by the Los Angeles Clippers, was acquired on Tuesday to replace Hiram Fuller, who was called-up to the Atlanta Hawks.
The Lowgators will be back at home on Sunday at 5 p.m. when they host the Columbus Riverdragons.
Individual game tickets are $13.50 for adults, $10.00 for students (13 through valid college I.D.) and the military and $7.50 for kids 3 to 12 and seniors 62 and older. Tickets can be purchased at the Coliseum Box Office; by calling 1-800-4-NBA-TIX; by calling 460-1000 or by logging on to www.charlestonlowgators.com.
