Edinburg Roadrunners News Release

The Coyotes winning streak was stopped at 2 on Thursday night as the Aces beat the Coyotes 9-4 at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. The Aces fought hard for their win as they improve to 10-11.

The scoring would start for Edinburg in the bottom of the third with two runs that would come off a deep fly ball hit by Eric Gonzalez. The sacrifice fly was hit almost to the wall and was deep enough to allow Grijalva to score from second.

The Aces would get one run in the top of the fourth but the big story was in the top of the 5th when the Aces would send 10 men to the plate and score 6 runs. The 6 runs would come off of only 3 hits while defensive miscues and a lack of control by pitcher Andy Noonan allowed the for a big Alexandria inning.

The Coyotes would try to rally in the bottom of fifth but would leave the bases loaded. The Aces would tack on more runs in the top of the 6th, shutting down any rally that the coyotes might have had.

Eric Montoya (3-0) will get the start tomorrow against a TBA starter for the Amrillo Dillas.

The Edinburg Coyotes are part of United League Baseball, an independent league of six professional baseball teams located in Texas and Louisiana. The United League is in its inaugural season this summer with teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Laredo, Harlingen, and San Angelo, Texas; and Alexandria, Louisiana. The ULB will play a 90-game schedule between May and August 2006.
