
ECHL Will Surpass Four Million Fans Friday

PRINCETON, N.J. â The ECHL will surpass the four million mark in attendance
for the first time since 2001-02 and the sixth time in league history on
Friday. The league went over the four million mark four consecutive years
from 1996-97 to 1999-2000 when it had a league-high 4,678,087 in 1999-2000.
There were two ECHL games scheduled for Thursday and there are 15 games
scheduled for Friday.
The ECHL drew 3,975,167 fans for its first 1,030 games, an average of 3,859
fans per game, and is looking to increase its average attendance for the
first time since 1996-97. At its current average, the league will draw
4,307,041 for its 1,116 games, the fourth-highest attendance in the
league's 16-year history. The ECHL has drawn over three million fans each
of the past 11 seasons and has surpassed two million fans the past 13
years.
Beginning with 164,071 fans in its inaugural season in 1988-89, the ECHL
has drawn 50,424,400 fans for 11,245 regular season games. Carol Stuart of
Biloxi, Mississippi became the 50 millionth ECHL fan on March 11 when she
attended her first hockey game at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Stuart
received a Sea Wolves jersey and season tickets for 2004-05 from the team
and two league-wide season passes for 2004-05 and an assortment of league
apparel and novelties from the ECHL.
