
ECHL Star Officially Joins Mallards

Moline, IL-Quad City Mallards President and General Manager Howard Cornfield today announced that right winger Paul Cabana has been assigned to the team by the American League's Hershey Bears. Hershey is the primary affiliate of the NHL's Colorado Avalanche.
The 6-foot-1, 200 pound right winger spent the 2003-04 season with the Columbia Inferno of the ECHL. Cabana scored 30 goals as a member of the ECHL's highest scoring offense. He also contributed 23 assists as the Inferno averaged 3.82 goals per game. Cabana was held scoreless in a one-game call-up to the AHL's Manitoba Moose.
In his three-year professional career, Cabana has appeared in 88 games recording 33 goals and 31 assists for 64 points with 110 penalty minutes. Cabana attended Michigan Tech for four years. In 147 college games, Cabana recorded 45 goals and 31 assists for 76 points.
"Paul is a big, strong forward who should be an impact player for us," said Cornfield. "He can skate, score and is tough."
The Mallards open the 2004-05 season tonight at Rockford. The First Captial Financial Pre-Game Show begins at 6:35 p.m. with opening face-off set for 7:05 p.m. After the game, stay tuned for the Allstate Insurance Del Newton/ Christy Cox Post-Game Show.
