Reading, PA - The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have announced that equipment manager Russ Holden has been named the ECHL's Equipment Manager of the Year. Holden shares the honor with Florida Everblades equipment man, John Jennings. The award is determined by a vote of ECHL equipment managers.

Russ Holden finished his first season in Reading and his sixth season overall in the ECHL in 2004-05. Prior to joining the Reading organization, Holden spent one season with the Louisiana IceGators of the ECHL. From 1999-2003 the Alberta native worked with coach Derek Clancey in Jackson, Mississippi with the Bandits. Before joining the ECHL pro ranks, Holden worked in a similar capacity in the Western Hockey League with Brandon and in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League with Yorkton.

"Russ takes a lot of worries away from my job by handling a lot of the day-to-day operations in the locker room in a very professional manner," commented coach Derek Clancey. "He has a ton of experience and earned the respect of our players. It is a great honor for him to win this award."

The new physical address for the Royals offices is: 645 Penn Street, 3rd Floor, Reading, PA 19601.

The Royals 5th Anniversary Season faces off October 29 against Kelly Cup Champion Trenton. The Royals will raise the North Division regular season champion banner prior to the drop of the puck.
