ECHL Announces Fines, Suspension

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL on Thursday announced the following fines and suspension.

Colorado's Penner fined, suspended

Colorado's Alex Penner has been suspended for three games and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #369, Colorado at Las Vegas, on Jan. 16.

Penner is fined and suspended under Rule #28 - Supplementary Discipline, as the result of an illegal check to the head of an opponent.

Penner will miss Colorado's games at Ontario on Jan. 20 and Jan. 21 and against Las Vegas on Jan. 25.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player's Hardship Fund.

Utah's Severyn fined

Utah's C.J. Severyn has been fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #364, Idaho at Utah, on Jan. 14, and in ECHL Game #372, Idaho at Utah, on Jan. 16.

Severyn is fined under Rule #28 - Supplementary Discipline.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player's Hardship Fund.
