Eaves' Three Homers Power 66ers in 7-4 Win

Adelanto, CA- Kody Eaves put the Inland Empire 66ers offense on his back by tagging three homers in a 7-4 win over the High Desert Mavericks at Heritage Field on Wednesday. The Pasadena, TX native drove in six runs as the Sixers made it three consecutive wins over the Mavs in two days; they have now won seven of their last nine ballgames.

Eaves drilled his first homer of the game in the top of the first off starter David Ledbetter (1-7). The three-run shot gave IE a 3-0 lead for starter Ryan Etsell and was the opening salvo for Eaves.

After the 66ers added a run in the second to make it 4-0 Eaves struck in the third when he got to Ledbetter again. The former 16th round draftee of the Angels sizzled his second homer of the day out to right-center field. Eaves made it three homers in three at-bats when he took another Ledbetter deep to lead off the fifth. Ryan Ledbetter replaced his brother and Eaves made in a family affair when he lifted a high-fly ball to left that go over the wall for his third of the game and ninth of the season.

Etsell earned the win for the 66ers with five solid frames. The Philadelphia, PA native allowed one run on five hits with one walk and three K's in his first outing since July 11th.

High Desert (46-46, 9-13) fought back with a run in the sixth on Lewis Brinson's tenth homer of the season. Brinson also doubled in the game. The Mavs closed the lead to 7-4 in the seventh against IE reliever Alex Blackford aided by Tripp Martin's second homer in as many games. The Mavericks had the bags loaded but Ronnie Muck came in and got the final out of the frame stranding the bags full. Muck tossed a perfect eighth with two K's. Geoff Broussard nailed down his 11th save in 11 chances with a clean ninth. He struck out two batters and has now fanned 54 men against only eight walks and 22 hits in 31.2 innings pitched.

Angel Rosa and Andrew Daniel added multi-hit games for Inland Empire (46-47, 11-12). The 66ers are now 6-4 versus High Desert this season.
