
Eastern League Home Run Derby Participants Set

Harrisburg, PA - The Harrisburg Senators are pleased to announce the participants in the 2010 Eastern League Home Run Derby presented by Metro Bank. The Home Run Derby is one of the highlights each year of the events surrounding the All-Star Game. The All-Star Game is this Wednesday, July 14 at 7:05pm at Metro Bank Park in Harrisburg.
From the Western Division are the two fan favorites Chris Marrero and Michael Martinez from the hosting Harrisburg Senators. Marrero is hitting .291 with 12 home runs and Martinez is batting .264 with 7 home runs. Joining Marrero and Martinez from the Western Division team are Hector Gimenez from Altoona and Thomas Neal from Richmond. Gimenez is hitting .311 with 12 home runs while Neal is hitting .284 with 8 home runs.
The four all-stars representing the Eastern Division in the Home Run Derby are Matt Rizzotti and Tagg Bozied from Reading, Kirk Nieuwenhuis from Binghamton and Eric Thames from New Hampshire. Rizzotti is batting .362 with 11 home runs in 52 games with Reading while Bozied is batting .295 with 13 homer runs this season. Nieuwenhuis is hitting .302 with 13 home runs and Thames is batting .278 with 14 home runs.
The Home Run Derby starts at 5:00pm with round one. Each player will get seven outs in round one with the top four advancing to round two. An out is defined as any ball swung at and not hit out of the ballpark. In round two, the four players will have ten outs and in the championship round, each player will have ten outs. The Home Run Derby presented by Metro Bank should last to approximately 6:15pm.
Gates open at 1:00pm Wednesday with the first event being the High School Home Run Derby semifinals. From 2:00pm to 3:00pm the two All-Star teams take turns taking batting practice and then at 3:00pm, the teams will sign autographs for 90 minutes.

There are limited tickets available for purchase to the 2010 Eastern League All-Star game presented by Ollie's Bargain Outlet by calling the Senators box office at 717-231-4444, visiting the Senators Web site at www.senatorsbaseball.com, or in person at the box office at Metro Bank Park. The box office hours are Saturday 10am to 2pm, Monday and Tuesday from 9:00am to 5:00pm and Wednesday from 9:00am until the tickets are sold out.
