SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes return to MLS action this weekend when they visit Nashville SC for the first time in team history on Saturday, June 11. The match will kick off from GEODIS Park at 5 p.m. PT and will be broadcast nationally on UniMás, TUDN, and Twitter, as well as on local radio via KNBR 1050 (English) and 1370 KZSF (Spanish).

Last Friday, the club announced the signing of 15-year-old midfielder and San Francisco native Cruz Medina to a Homegrown Player contract through the 2026 season with a club option for 2027. Medina is the 11th product of the Quakes Academy to sign with the first team and third to do so in 2022, following Niko Tsakiris and Will Richmond.

Five Quakes players are currently away due with their respective national teams during the current FIFA international window: Ousseni Bouda (Burkina Faso), Francisco Calvo (Costa Rica), Marcos Lopez (Peru), Emi Ochoa (U.S. U19), and Jamiro Monteiro (Cape Verde).

History Made

San Jose played to a 2-2 draw against Nashville SC in the first-ever MLS meeting at PayPal Park on April 16. Forward Jeremy Ebobisse scored two goals, helping the Quakes equalize on two different occasions during that game.

Saturday's match will mark the first time that San Jose visits Nashville at GEODIS Park, the largest soccer-specific stadium in the United States.

Earthquakes Announce Time Change for Road Match vs Nashville SC

The San Jose Earthquakes announced last Friday that the club's road match vs. Nashville SC at GEODIS Park on Saturday, June 11, originally scheduled for 3 p.m. PT, has moved to 5 p.m. PT. The match will be broadcast nationally on UniMás and TUDN, as well as on local radio via KNBR 1050 (English) and 1370 KZSF (Spanish).

Earthquakes Sign 15-Year-Old Midfielder Cruz Medina to Homegrown Player Contract

The Earthquakes announced last Friday that the club has signed 15-year-old midfielder Cruz Medina to a Homegrown Player contract through the 2026 season with a club option for 2027. Medina is the 11th product of the Quakes Academy to sign with the first team and third to do so in 2022, following Niko Tsakiris and Will Richmond. At 15 years and 252 days old, he becomes the third youngest player in club history and the 15th youngest player in MLS history. To read more, click here.

Earthquakes Acquire General Allocation Money in Exchange for Homegrown Priority to Diego Luna

The club announced last Thursday that they have acquired $50,000 of 2022 General Allocation Money (GAM) from Real Salt Lake in exchange for the Homegrown Priority to midfielder Diego Luna. San Jose will receive additional allocation money if certain performance metrics are met. The Quakes also retain a sell-on percentage in the event of a future transfer to a team outside of Major League Soccer.

CEFCU Movie Night Series Returns to PayPal Park

The Movie Night Series, presented by CEFCU, will return to PayPal Park for the fifth consecutive year from June 21 - July 26. The Movie Night Series will bring films to the stadium's large video board during five Tuesdays this summer, creating a family-friendly event where moviegoers of all ages can share an outdoor viewing experience. The viewing parties are free to attend by claiming a ticket at the RSVP links below. The five movies to be featured in the 2022 Movie Nights Series are Encanto (June 21), Sing (June 28), Luca (July 12), Zootopia (July 19), and Sing 2 (July 26). Showtimes will begin at 6 p.m. PT for all five screenings, with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. PT.

EARTHQUAKES II UPDATE

Earthquakes II fell to the Tacoma Defiance 6-1 on Saturday night at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, Wash. Diego Otoya scored the lone goal for Quakes II via penalty kick. Quakes II played with a very young roster, including nine amateur academy players.
