July 19, 2020 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes will play their third and final group-stage match in the MLS is Back Tournament vs. Chicago Fire FC tonight at 5 p.m. PT, presented by Sutter Health. The match takes place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. and will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1, TUDN, KNBR 1050, 1370 KZSF and TuneIn Radio.
San Jose is currently in first place in Group B with an undefeated 1-0-1 record through two matches. After a scoreless draw against the defending MLS Cup champions Seattle Sounders FC on July 10, the Earthquakes earned a dramatic 4-3 comeback victory vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC on July 15.
A victory tonight would see the Quakes win Group B, while a draw would also cement the team's position in the Knockout Round. San Jose could also advance with a defeat, pending results of other matches around the league.
Each of the three group stage matches will count towards the regular-season stats and standings and there is also a $1.1 million prize pool and spot in the 2021 Concacaf Champions League at stake.
The Earthquakes are hosting drive-in viewing parties at Earthquakes Stadium in San Jose for each of their three group stage matches. The viewing parties, while free, require an RSVP due to limited availability. Click here for b-roll from Wednesday's viewing party.
