Earthquakes Kick Off 2009 Home MLS Campaign Against New England Revolution on March 21

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced that they will kick off their 2009 Major League Soccer season on Saturday, March 21 at Buck Shaw Stadium against the New England Revolution. The game will start at 7:30 p.m. PT. The Quakes' second game of the season was also announced today. San Jose travels to Washington, D.C. to play D.C. United on Saturday, March 28 at 4:30 p.m. PT at R.F.K. Stadium.

The Quakes split two games against New England in 2008, losing 2-0 in Foxborough, Mass. and cruising to a 4-0 win at Buck Shaw Stadium in August. The Quakes have gone unbeaten in 13 out of the past 14 matches against the Revolution. San Jose defeated the Revs 2-1 in the Quakes home opener on April 6, 2002 at Spartan Stadium. Overall in home openers, the Earthquakes have posted a 4-4-3 record since 1996.

The Earthquakes will play 13 regular season home games at Buck Shaw Stadium in 2009 and two home matches at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. San Jose posted a 5-3-4 record at Buck Shaw in 2008.

Season tickets are on sale now for the 2009 Earthquakes season. The season-ticket package consists of 17 games, 15 regular season matches and two bonus matches.
