Early Runs Sink Boomers

CRESTWOOD, IL - The Windy City ThunderBolts scored runs in each of the first four innings to hand the Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, a 7-1 loss in the middle game of a series on Saturday night.

Windy City built a 7-0 lead and was able to overcome 12 strikeouts to hand the Boomers a seventh consecutive defeat. Scott Schultz took the loss on the hill, allowing seven runs on 12 hits in five innings of work. Schultz struck out eight and struck out the side in the fifth. Derek DeYoung, Evan Boyd, and Dexter Price combined to throw the final three innings without allowing a run. Tobias Moreno reached base three times, tallying two hits, a walk, a stolen base, and a run. James Keller picked up a pair of hits as the Boomers finished with seven.

The series will conclude on Saturday night at 5:05 p.m. with RHP Kagen Hopkins (4-5, 3.75) on the mound. The 2016 season is quickly coming to a close.
