Colorado Eagles News Release
BOISE, Idaho. -The Colorado Eagles (39-21-2-3) gained a valuable point in the playoff standings against the Idaho Steelheads (43-17-2-3), falling 3-2 in overtime on Saturday night at CenturyLink Arena.
Idaho began the scoring on Saturday night with a wrist shot from forward Alex Belzile on the 5-on-3 power play, his second goal in as many nights.
Colorado forward Vitalijs Pavlovs would answer with just over six minutes remaining in the second, as he spun off a creative move, ringing the puck off of the crossbar to even the score at 1. Belzile would answer three minutes later on a one-time shot from linemate Jefferson Dahl, giving the Steelheads the 2-1 advantage. With the clock winding down in the second, Eagles defenseman Loic Leduc launched his first Eagles goal past Idaho netminder Chris Rawlings to bring the game to a 2-2 draw.
In overtime, the Steelheads began the breakout on a 3-on-2 rush, resulting in defenseman Shawn Boutin cutting across the slot and beating Eagles goalie Aaron Crandall top shelf, giving the Steelheads the overtime victory for the second night in a row.
Colorado picked up another point on the road against the Steelheads, keeping the Eagles in good positioning for the playoffs, extending their lead over the Ontario Reign to two points with seven games remaining in the regular season.
