Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced Tuesday that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Jake Marto for the 2015-16 season. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound blueliner returns to Colorado after having spent the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons with the Eagles. During that time, Marto registered 31 points in 87 games and finished with a combined plus-minus rating of plus-9.
"Jake proved during his two seasons in this league that he is a premier defenseman at this level," said Eagles head coach and general manager Chris Stewart. "He is a guy who can certainly contribute from an offensive standpoint, while also being extremely reliable in his own zone and on specialty teams."
A two-time national champion during his NCAA career at the University of North Dakota, the Grand Forks, North Dakota native recently concluded a two-year stint playing professionally in Europe. He collected 17 points in 51 games while playing for Sodertalje SK in Sweden during the 2013-14 campaign. Most recently, Marto generated 11 points in 49 games with the Graz 99ers in Austria last season. In addition, Marto has also appeared in 14 AHL games with the St. John's Ice Caps, posting three points.
"I'm really excited to be signing back in Colorado, it's such a great organization with great fans and it's an incredible place to live," said Marto. "I'm hoping for a really successful season and I can't wait to get it started."
Season tickets for the 2015-16 season are on-sale now and can be reserved with a $50 deposit per seat by calling the Eagles ticket office at 970-686-SHOT (7468). The 2015-16 regular season home schedule kicks off on Friday, October 16th when the Eagles host the Utah Grizzlies. A complete schedule can be found at www.ColoradoEagles.com.
