Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, Colo. - The Governors' Cup champion Colorado Eagles announced today the signing of veteran forward Ed McGrane, bringing their number of signed veterans to three for the 2009-10 season; Riley Nelson and Aaron Schneekloth were signed last Thursday.
McGrane finished a strong 2008-09 regular season one point behind Nelson -- good for fourth on the team and just four points off the team lead. He capped of his 81-point season (24-57-81) with 19 points in 15 playoff games to lead the Eagles in their fourth President's Cup Finals run.
The Hamilton, Ontario native ended his fourth season with Colorado riding a 20-game point streak that became the longest in franchise history and the longest in the league last year. His hot streak carried into the playoffs where McGrane scored in fourteen of fifteen games, including netting six of the team's 15 goals in the finals.
McGrane -- who was voted last season by his peers as the league's best stickhandler and its second-most underrated player -- ranks fourth on the franchise's all-time points list (trailing Nelson, Greg Pankewicz and Ryan Tobler) with 258 points (92-166-258) in 199 games. Pankewicz and Tobler are the two remaining veteran players from last year's Eagles team.
