Colorado Eagles News Release

FORT COLLINS, CO- Today the Colorado Eagles announced the signing of defenseman Aaron Schneekloth. He is the second defenseman added to the roster following the signing of his former New Mexico Scorpions teammate Erik Adams. The Eagles now have seven players under contract for the upcoming 2006-07 season.

The 5'11", 185-pound Calgary, Alberta native is coming off his finest season as a pro becoming a Southern Conference All-Star. Last year, Schneekloth set career highs in goals (16), points (43), and penalty minutes (79) playing in 59 games with the Austin Ice Bats. He also earned a call-up to the American Hockey League appearing in six games with the Houston Aeros registering an assist and two penalty minutes during his stint.

"A quality defenseman like Aaron, you have a player that can offset a loss like Matt Desrosiers. He is very solid defensively, but like Brad Williamson he can bring an offensive punch to the lineup every night," said Eagles Vice President and Head Coach Chris Stewart.

Schneekloth completed a career at the University of North Dakota, where he won the 2000 National Championship. He signed with the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays and played in nine regular season games and one playoff contest. The right-handed defenseman stayed in South Carolina in 2002-03 with his former North Dakota teammate Brad Williamson and they became ECHL All-Stars; it was the first of his two All-Star appearances as a pro. That same season, he earned his first AHL call-up and saw action in two games with the Grand Rapids Griffins. The opportunity in Grand Rapids gave him his first full season at the AHL level tallying a goal and seven assists in 56 games. During the 2004-05 campaign he was a teammate of Eagles defenseman Erik Adams in New Mexico and set a career high with 36 assists.

"When I looked for a place to go this season, I thought Colorado was the best option for my family as I will have not only a place to win a title, but an opportunity to move into a great community," said Schneekloth.

The back-to-back Governors' Cup Champion Colorado Eagles will begin their fourth season of play in October 2006. Colorado has been the winningest team in the Central Hockey League the past three seasons compiling a 130-40-18 record, and has set the "AA" record for consecutive sellouts at 94 regular-season games and counting.
